MEMPHIS, Tennessee --- In collaboration with the University of Memphis' Bornblum Judaic Studies, From Adam to Ashes, a symposium led by world-renowned artist Daniel Kafri, will be held at the Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art. Kafri's bas-relief works, many of which are on public display at the museum, will be the event's focus. He will discuss the Biblical tales portayed in his pieces.
Several respected members of the community will join him in the discussion, including Rabbi Shai Finkelstein, Senior Rabbi of Baron Hirsch Congregation; Rabbi Micah Greenstein, Senior Rabbi of Temple Israel; Dr. David Patterson, Director of the University of Memphis' Bornblum Judaic Studies; and Rabbi Gil Perl, Dean of the Margolin Hebrew Academy and Feinstone Yeshiva of the South. Leonid Saharovici, President of the Board of the Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art, will serve as the symposium's moderator.
Free and open to the public, the symposium will begin at 2:00PM on Sunday, November 25, 2007. It will be held in the Center for Southern Folklore, located one floor above the Belz Museum. A visit of the Judaica Exhibition at the museum will follow. Copies of Daniel Kafri's catalog will be on sale for $12.
